HISTORY

The Resolution No. 204 was passed by Mayor Filemon P. Javier and Municipal Council of Mandaluyong requesting the Ortigas Company to donate the old site to the Municipality of Mandaluyong to be converted to a school site.

On June 21, 1965, Ortigas and Company, Limited in partnership with Rafael Ortigas Jr. as General Manager turnover the Deed of Donation of the Old Market site in Barangka to the Municipality of Mandaluyong to be converted to a school site with a land area of 3, 000 square meters known as Hulo Elementary School Unit I. On January 1999 the then Congressman Neptali “Boyet” Gonzales passed a resolution in Congress. It was approved and the School was made ready for the coming of the High School students. The 470 First Year Students used the Old Two-Storey Rodriguez Building with 14 High School Teachers. The elementary pupils and teachers used the Neptali Gonzales Building at the front part of the school with only five guards, two janitresses and 1 janitor.

Mrs. Elizabeth Reyes was appointed as the Assistant to the Principal by Mrs. Mae T. Nalaunan, the Principal of Bonifacio Javier Elementary School and Officer-in-Charge of the High School.

Thus, it became Bonifacio Javier Integrated School (BJIS). By virtue of Republic Act 9143 the then Bonifacio Javier Integrated School was finally converted into a National High School in 2002.

In June 2001, an additional of of 14 High School Teachers arrived. They then enrolled both First and Second Year High School students. Mrs. Socorro Derilo from Mandaluyong High School was assigned as Assistant Principal of the School. Mrs. Ma. Cristina Ugsimar was the Guidance Counselor.

In January 2002, Mrs. Mae T. Nalaunan was promoted as Division Science Supervisor. She was replaced by Mrs. Corazon S. Mayoya as Principal of Bonifacio Javier Elementary School and Officer-in-Charge of Bonifacio Javier National High School.

On June 2002, the school started enrolling its Third Year students. The school cannot accommodate the whole populace (elementary and high school from first year to third year students). It was then that the transferring of the elementary pupils and the teachers was implemented. On July 17, 2002 all the teachers and pupils of the elementary department were merged to Hulo Elementary School leaving the school to be solely Bonifacio Javier National High School housing high school students.
